Recent Awards

Each month, Aboveline publishes a case study of a recently completed project, highlighting the client, the objectives, the challenges and the result.

This month reflects on our recent work with Dechra and Ted Todd Flooring both of which have received awards for their Exhibition Stands.

Over the years Aboveline has worked with both clients to develop their exhibition style and presence at numerous high-profile events across the exhibition calendar.

The Client

Dechra is a well – established global business in the veterinary world. They specialise in the development, manufacture, sales and marketing  of high quality products exclusively for veterinarians.

UK exhibitions include: The London Vet Show, BEVA and BSAVA Congress.

European exhibitions include: ECVIM and ESVD.

The Objectives

Aboveline’s most recent project with Dechra was to design and build an exhibition stand for the London Vet Show in November 2018, a focal event in the veterinary calendar with 450+ leading suppliers exhibiting. As always, the core objective was to promote the brand and attract and engage visitors, but last year they wanted to push the boundaries with something completely different – an attention – grabbing themed space that would really stand out from the crowd.

The Challenges

Design and build a unique, eye-catching stand which still incorporated the Dechra branding.

A very intensive design process – as this was Dechra’s first ever themed stand, it was vital for us to work closely with them during the creative process to ensure we brought their visions to life.

The stand required a specific style of floor graphics to fit the design theme, but also needed to be durable enough to withstand footfall over the two day event.

While maintaining the theme, create an open plan space so that delegates could engage easily with Dechra staff, each other, and the interactive elements of the stand.

The Results

Aboveline created a striking, New York themed stand, complete with yellow cab, fire hydrant and road signage, incorporating the Dechra branding into the various design elements.

This unique and eye-catching solution with the incorporated branding aided Dechra to have their most successful show to date in terms of competition entries and stand engagement. The icing on top of the cake was Dechra winning the VMA Exhibition Award, which was a brilliant accolade for both Dechra and the Aboveline team.

What They Said

“The themed- led design received fantastic comments from delegates and competitors and stopped delegates in their tracks”

Ted Todd

The Client

Ted Todd is a market leading manufacturer of outstanding high-end hard wood flooring. Their products are unrivalled in quality, using the highest standard of unique and rare woods. Their flooring is used in prestige design projects and is a favourite of interior designers both in the UK and internationally.

The Objective

Aboveline were asked to create Ted Todd’s stand for The Kitchen and Bath Industry Show (KBIS) 2019 in Las Vegas. KBIS is North America’s biggest trade show, with 600 exhibitors and more than 30,000 visitors, and is a key event in the industry calendar.

Ted Todd wanted to showcase their ‘Rare Finds’ flooring collection in a way that emphasised the superb quality of the product and illustrated the unique story behind the wood they use. With so many other exhibitors, they needed a dynamic, functional space that would stand out to engage visitors.

As well as being used at KBIS, the stand is to be installed in their prestigious London showroom, so needed to be suitable and functional for both locations.

The Challenges

Logistics – there was a limited time frame to manufacture the stand in order to transport it to the USA in time for installation at the KBIS venue. We also included a prebuild so the client could see their stand and interact with it before shipping.

Multiuse – the stand needed to be suitable for both KBIS and for later use in the Ted Todd showroom, so had to be durable enough to withstand two builds and a permanent installation.

Brand match – the stand had to reflect the high quality of Ted Todd’s products and materials, and also allow visitors to understand the story behind the wood in the ‘Rare Finds’ collection.

Bespoke components – the displays had to be precision made to hold specific products and includes 3D copper lettering which had to be handmade by skilled craftsmen.

The Result

Aboveline worked from a design produced by I-Am Associates, to create the working drawings and sourced some of the materials that had not already been specified.

The result was a stunning and sophisticated space which reflected the prestige status of Ted Todd products and highlighted the unique story behind the ‘Rare Finds’ collection with innovative halo lighting and tactile, ‘hands on’ displays of the materials.

The stand achieved the aim of standing out – it won the KBIS 2019 ‘Best Small Booth’ award ahead of hundreds of other stands. This accolade was a fantastic result for Ted Todd and the Aboveline Team.

What They Said

“We always knew that the finish and quality of the build needed to match the design of the stand and the quality of the floors. As there were so many bespoke samples that had to be made by our craftsmen, the fact that we were able to work with the team at Aboveline to ensure millimetre precision was really important. Winning the ‘Best Small Stand’ award was so exciting as it meant the judges recognised what a great job everyone had done to deliver the brief.”
