The team at Aboveline are very helpful and supportive, and have helped me gain experience in a variety of areas including working with design briefs and being creative by brainstorming different campaign ideas.
My first few days at Aboveline mostly included learning about the company, Izzy my supervisor gave me a tour of the office and introduced me to her colleagues and what they do. The work environment is very relaxed and creative, everyone supports each other, and it is great to have a chat with everyone.
Then I sat down with Izzy as she explained the history of the company and what different exhibition stands they design and manufacture. I learnt about the company’s values and what they want to produce and achieve.
My first project was focused on sustainability, this is important to Aboveline as they care about the environment. To start with I did some brainstorming to come up with some unique ideas to include in an offline marketing campaign, for example a sustainable pencil that can be planted. I thought it was important to be as creative as possible as Aboveline creates bespoke stands specifically designed for their clients.
I did some concept sketches on how the items can be presented, and also sketched how the items could be packaged. I really enjoyed this as I study Product Design at College and it gave me insight on how my skills can be applied in the creative industry and at Aboveline.
Later in the week, I then worked on a client brief and specification and created some designs for them. This has given me some insight into the range of services Aboveline offers to their clients that is not just bespoke exhibition stands. Also, this was my first time being given a brief from an actual client and being given feedback from Aboveline on my different concepts.
This has been a really amazing week of work experience, and I have enjoyed my time here, learning new skills and gaining new experience in the creative industry.
