Ted Todd is a market leading manufacturer of outstanding high end hard wood flooring. Their products are unrivalled in quality, using the highest standard of unique and rare woods to create floors that all have individual personalities and stories. Their flooring is used in prestige design projects and is a favourite of interior designers both in the UK and internationally. Aboveline has previously worked with Ted Todd at multiple industry events, including Decorex and the Retail Design Expo.
The Kitchen and Bath Industry Show (KBIS) in Las Vegas is North America’s biggest trade show, with 600 exhibitors and more than 30,000 visitors, and is a key event in the industry calendar. Featuring the latest trends and innovations in kitchen and bathroom design, it is a platform for exhibitors to showcase their products and network with other manufacturers. Visitors and potential buyers are able to interact first hand with products, and get information direct from their manufacturers.
Aboveline were asked to create Ted Todd’s stand for KBIS 2019 in Las Vegas. Ted Todd wanted to showcase their ‘Rare Finds’ flooring collection in a way that emphasised the superb quality of the product and illustrated the unique story behind the wood they use. With so many other exhibitors, they needed a dynamic, functional space that would stand out to engage visitors. As well as being used at KBIS, the stand is to be installed in their prestigious London showroom, so needed to be suitable and functional for both locations.
Logistics – there was a limited time frame to manufacture the stand in order to transport it to the USA in time for installation at the KBIS venue. We also included a prebuild so the client could see their stand and interact with it before shipping
Multiuse – the stand needed to be suitable for both KBIS and for later use in the Ted Todd showroom, so had to be durable enough to withstand two builds and a permanent installation
Brand match – the stand had to reflect the high quality of Ted Todd’s products and materials, and also allow visitors to understand the story behind the wood in the ‘Rare Finds’ collection
Bespoke components – the displays had to be precision made to hold specific products and includes 3D copper lettering which had to be handmade by skilled craftsmen
Aboveline worked from a design produced by I-Am Associates, produced the working drawings and sourced some of the materials that had not already been specified. Aboveline then created a stunning and sophisticated space which reflected the prestige status of Ted Todd products and highlighted the unique story behind the ‘Rare Finds’ collection with innovative halo lighting and tactile, ‘hands on’ displays of the materials. The stand achieved the aim of standing out – it won the KBIS Best Small Booth award ahead of hundreds of other stands. Ted Todd were particularly happy that they were able to use our prebuild service, which enabled them to ensure every detail was perfect before shipping and said the stand had reflected their brand personality as well as being functional for both staff and visitors. We look forward to working with Ted Todd on future projects including the upcoming AD Design Show in New York.
“We always knew that the finish and quality of the build needed to match the design of the stand and the quality of the floors. As there were so many bespoke samples that had to be made by our craftsmen, the fact that we were able to work with the team at Aboveline to ensure millimetre precision was really important. Winning the ‘Best Small Stand’ award was so exciting as it meant the judges recognised what a great job everyone had done to deliver the brief.” Jenny Borthwick – Head of Marketing Ted Todd Fine Wood Floors
